database protection
hi,
can anybody tell me the best way to protect an access database? i also need help with coding the startup options in vba.

hacking?
Deleting?

Encryption would be my suggestion again hacking.
Password protection for modifying, and even that is not too terribly difficult to get around.
Deleting it outright is not completely impossible to protect against, but of the three, it would definately be the most difficult to protect against unless it is on a network share. Then, access to the share can be limited to only the application users. Now, the would mean a non-application user couldn't get to it, but I don't see how you could protect against a valid application user deleting it if they wanted to.
The best protection for all three is good, daily backups.

Here are all the current types. I would suggest keeping a current backup of the non-encrypted db if you do go that route. Encrypting only encrypts the data stored and not prevent access but is a value when you have sensitive data stored.
