The "Post Reply" Screen now seem identical to the New Post screen (complete with emauil notification and subject box)

    Is this intentional?

It is intentional. The post subject field allows you to give a quick overview of your reply that can be quickly picked up by the readers.

You can also select to be notified by email when a new post is made into a thread where you have contributed.
