Not really a programming issue, but...
I haven't gotten a response on the networking forums I've posted to, so maybe someone here knows the answer.
I installed a new program & my firewall reports that it's trying to communicate with address 0.0.50.0, port 1. What the heck is this address? There's no reason for this program to be communicating over the network so I figure the 0.0 must mean the address is on my PC-but what is it?

It is not the LoopBackIP of your PC, so it has to be something else.

Re: Not really a programming issue, but...
It actually occurs on quite a few games I bought from the same game house. If it's not self-directed then it's probably trying to report some sort of marketing info which is why I blocked it. The game plays fine when I block it so it's certainly not a necessary communication. My problem is that I don't see how whatever info it's sending can even get back to anyone. IIRC 0.0.0.0 is a network broadcast, so 0.0.50.0 would be what, broadcasting to all class C networks of value 50? Doesn't make sense, does it?

Have you talked to the game house that you bought the games from concerning this issue?

No. If you could see me you'd see this stunned look as this is the obvious approach, and one that I totally never thought of. Thanks!
