'I know this is a game programming forum, but I think this is the only place where I can get an answer for this!
I have this game (FIFA 2001) and from the beginning it was wonderful, but lately when I start any type of game, all the players are purple with blue stripes all over them!!! The ball looks like it's like a half-done wireframe object, and all the lights and shadows are messed up also... Does anybody have a solution for all this? I tried getting help from the Company, but they didn't respond.
I think the problem is my DirectX... I have v.8a so I don't think I need to update it! I tried re-installing it 3 times, but the same thing happens!!!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Not all games work with DX8. Have you tried installing DX7???
PS: You may need to reinstall windows before you can do this(at least I had).

Reinstall windows?? Couldn't you just remove DX8, then install DX7?

...
Yeah, I guess I can try that, but the weird thing is that the game works fine sometimes... for example today, I ran the game about 5 times and out of the 5 times, 1 time it was woking fine...

It hasn't got anything to do with DX, just get the latest drivers of your graphics card from your manufacturer...
I had the same thing with a voodoo2 card.

The same thing happens to me when I use my Savage4 card in a demo of Oni, it comes out screwy 3 out of the 4 times.
What card do you have, it could explain a lot.

Finally I got it working...
I got a program from download.com to complitely uninstall DirectX and then I re-installed it, and now it's working fine...
P.S. pjvdg, I'm from Bulgaria, so Bulgaria is my Favorite. I downloaded the Bulgarian Soccer Team from the fifa2001.com site... I got so much stuff off there, like different balls, nets, players, everything...
-Thanks!

fifa2001.net has a cool editor that allows you to change the billboards, shirts, etc.

Its aptly named DX Unistaller. *grin* I think it is, anyways it's on the start page so it isn't any hassle getting it.

Do you all have problems with DX 8?
It wouldn't work on my good old 'superb' cyrix(p166) processor. So that's why I needed to buy a true intel processor, bad bad bad micro$oft!
