Web Design
Hello, I am getting to the stage where I am designing websites for proper customers, what kind of questions am I to ask / discuss to the client.
I have no idea of the best moethod, also I know i have asked before, but what would you people charge for a web dev job, i know its charged more the longer the job is, but is there a pricing guidline at all?
Any help about anything I have or havnt mentioned would be great. Cheers

Re: Web Design
A "premium" for the home page, followed by a standard rate for each subsequent page designed.

Re: Web Design
I would guess what kind of website they would like you to design.
Also, use pen and paper to do lots of designs. That way, you can hand it over to your clients, and they can select what they want, and/or suggest improvements.

Re: Web Design
Yes, definately dont do any code until they decide on a layout and color scheme etc. They will always be saying "Can we change it to look like blah, blah, blah." If you get a signature for the basics, any changes they do will incure extra costs.

Re: Web Design
And, when they finally decide on a design, lock them in.
Any changes from that point forward would be extra.
(Don't take that to extremes.....if they change they want is minor, then that is fine. I'm talking about changes that would have an impact on the site as a whole.)

Re: Web Design
You were saying don't do any coding until they decided.
My point of view was after they have decided, and the coding starts.

They can make changes but changes cost money as work needs to be redone which is no big deal as long as the extra costs are involved in the new change or its an hourly project and extra hours are approved in accordance with the approval of the changes. Just as long as they keep the money flowing I wouldnt care
