    Re: Windows Installation Time

There isnt a way to do it.. You can only come up with estimates, but the time it takes to install depends on the version of Windows your installing, which release your installing, whether its an upgrade or full install from windows or from booting off the CD, and the speed of the processor, ram, and hard drives involved... You can only come up with guestimates...

Do you mean the time when Windows was installed on the machine?

When you install Windows there is a "Estimated Time Remaining" progressbar which is kind of accurate but thats the closest you will get.

    Re: Windows Installation Time

To my knowledge there is no way to find out that info. Windows can be installed with the clock info incorrect so that would even throw off finding a file that Windows creates at installation time and never modifies.

    Re: Windows Installation Time

Yup, but as mentioned the user can just change the time to whatever they choose during the installation process and viod that reg setting altogether.

Seems like no point in getting it as you cant count on its validity.

I'm curious....if you get this time, what will it tell you? Is there something going on that is contingent on when Windows was installed?

    Re: Windows Installation Time

Maybe you can use it for some kind of key for generating a serial number but the time/date will never be anything valid for its value.
