[RESOLVED] Visual Studio 2005 shows black screen as I build
Hey all!
I have just installed VisualStudio 2005 PRO and during the installation I saw few black screens. I thought it will stop after the installation compleats. It didn't
Every time I Build a project (VB or VC, I didn't check others) or when I start MSDN, these black screens pops up. Sometimes I can see a white rectangle (mouse pointer, like in fullscreen CMD), and sometimes it has keyboard cursor. I have Windows XPsp2, and i think it's related to the CMD consule somehow.
Can someone please tell me how to fix it??
I've had enough with sainity!
What's the use of it anyway?

If your XP SP-2 install is good then Its most likely that your copy of 2005 Pro may not be valid. Where did you get it from? You can check the validity of it by going to the MS site.

I Can't. I have changed LINK.EXE to "run in window mode", and that's cool. But I have to do it to all command-line based application.
How do I do that?

You can post a screenshot by pressing the Print Scrn button. Then paste it into MA Paint, crop as needed, save to file. Then when replying to this thread click the Manage Attachments button near the bottom of the reply page and browse, select the saved file, clock Upload, click Close Form, then click Submit.

In that case you may want to look into a repair install or if that doesnt work a complete uninstall/reinstall.
If that sill doesnt work, maybe make sure your windows is completely updated with a Windows Update.

Re: Visual Studio 2005 shows black screen as I build
I have pressed the PrtScn and the menu Paste (under Edit on my MS paint) is disabled. Few seconds after I did it, another black screen poped up, so I tried pressing PrtScn again, and the menu paste (in paint) is still disabled.
Do you know how to change the state of all console applications (like LINK.EXE etc.) to be windowed? I think that's the reason...

I executed LINK.EXE under CMD, and a MSGBOX poped up (something about command line). The CMD window's title was still LINK.EXE, I pressed the menu icon > Properties. Under the Options tab Display options frame I changed the option to be "Window".
A window named "Apply properties to shourtcut" poped up, and I selected "Modify shortcut that stared this window"
That's good for only one application. What can I do for all other (MSDN for example)?

Hmm, seems weird that the clipboard is disabled for copy/pasting a screenshot. Maybe its a OS issue? Maybe a repair install will fix it?

I really don't want to reinstall Windows...
I'll try getting more info from Microsoft.com or something...

That's good enough for both. As I suspected, it was due to some console setting for fullscreen.
What does your VB do?

I dont want to test it as I just got my internet back up.
It should do the same for all as the KBA states. I just never had the need to change the setting.

Yes, I know the console setting as I have formatted my consoles before but never as fullscreen. Seems like it would feel like retro programming
