[RESOLVED] .NET+CF20 Error: Connect to device failed

I am trying to test and debug my app on my handheld using ActiveSync connected with a USB cable instead of running it on the device's image emulator.

It works on my laptop on both the device emulator and when deploying the app to the device itself as well, but when I try installing it on my desktop PC I get a 'Connect to device failed' when deploying it on the device and the file listed in the error dialog is displayed as 'Device Connectivity Component.' I can deploy the app using the device emulator image with no problem, but I prefer testing the app by deploying it on the actual device as it runs faster and smoother.

I have uninstalled ActiveSync (version 4.2 and 4.5) and reinstalled, as well as the device driver for my handheld. I can sync data and explore/transfer files with my desktop and my device with no problem. When I build and run my app from vb.net, I choose my device from the device list, then click Deploy. It takes a long pause and then a msgbox states that build errors occurred then prompts continue.... yes/no.

I have also made sure that my Device platform matches my device. Since ActiveSync works, it's like the IDE doesn't see ActiveSync since that is what loads the build on the PDA.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting what appears to be a ActiveSync (or really linking VB.NET IDE and ActiveSync) connection problem ? TIA

This is killing me. I have a working app that I need to test and debug on the Device. I can copy the build to the Device manually and it runs fine.

For some reason, VB.NET 2005 IDE will not link to the Device via ActiveSync.

So why doesn't the VB.net 2005 want to link using the device Jettce...?

I have also tried going to Tools and then Connect, then selecting the Device...

Then after about 2 mins I get this error:

It does not show in this image, but when I try and connect to the Device Emulaor Manager, it shows my device image, but it will not allow me to connect, cradle, shutdown, etc... all actions are greyed out for JettCe, but all other emulator images will allow me to connect, etc.

I have tried uninstalling the emulatotr image and files, etc... still no go...

It has to be something simple. CF20 has to be installed, or it would not run on other device emulators, etc.... idk

I have to be missing something... what gives. Still cannot connect to device through IDE.

Ok. Very simple solution. After many hours of reinstalling software and drivers.... Did a warm boot on device.

Bam! Deployed first time. Thanks Carlos Mencia.. Dun-duh-da!

Oh well. A 5 sec solution.
