Best UI for list of parameters

Hi

I have a list of parameters that need to be populated by the user prior to running a report.
The parameters type defines the UI control that is used for that parameter - e.g. combo box for selection from a list, numeric updown for a number and so on.
What is the best way of displaying this - a grid, multiple tabs, any other ???

can you not use a matrix at the backend and give the user a listbox or combo with more discriptive names?

e.g allow the user to ender dates freehand or combo,

then have a list populated to show the discriptive name of the reports.

this would only work if you know all the paramiters
