    Similar Threads

I subscribed to another forum about electonics, and I noticed they have a feature that is quite usefull sometimes.

At the bottom of the page they have a "Similar Threads" section, for example see my thread here:
    http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=7508

Why can't we enable this feature also ?

That seems like a nice feature.

For the same reason we don't implement a lot of other nice-to-haves, and that is that it would take a hack of the forum software and with dozens of forum sites to maintain it's to difficult to do.

    Re: Similar Threads

That feature is a bit processor intensive, especially with the high level of activity this forum has. As such, we didn't think it was worth the risk of slowing down the overall performance.

    Re: Similar Threads

Brad has the reason. With the number of performance issues and complaints we have here already, we didn't think it was wise to enable anything that would/might add to them.

Well... anyways... I did not think about performance issues...

    Thanks for the replies...

Its a built in feature of vB but on a large board it will hinder performance. Not sure what version that board is running or if our version supports it but if there was a way to get around the performance hit, it would be nice.

    Re: Similar Threads

It's been a feature going back several versions from this one. 3.0.x was where it began, I believe.
