    The US constitution says:

"The President can be and must only be a naturally-born citizen of the United States of America"

Doesn't that stink? Since USA 'rules' the world.... shouldn't anyone in the world have a chance of becoming President. I mean atleast a person who was not born in USA but lived in the US for a decade or so....

    What do YOU think?

No wonder every other country in the World hates Americans.... ???!!!???

    The constitution sucks...

I think it's good for a country not to have a constitution like Israel.

I think it's about time we left the americans alone. There has been a lot of sh*t thrown their way (some of which I was partially responsible for) but without them you wouldn't be using that little grey box in front of you, or surfing this thing called the net.

As an American, I just want to say I dont care who is President, as long as I'm allowed to keep my favorite cheese...

    Hmmmmmmmm.............

Since there ain't been many native born US Presidents....like 0....l guess the constitution rules out Indians as well.

Interestingly you cannot become monarch of the British Empire if you are Catholic.

    Q. If Prince Edward ascends the throne does that mean we still have a queen as head of state.

In Australia we have a much better system...of course...you can opnly become Prime Minister if you have the IQ of a zucchini.....damn, we have something in common with the US.

    Slightly worrying

The President can be and must only be a naturally-born citizen of the United States of America
The part of the above phrase that worries me is 'naturally'.

What exactly does 'naturally born' mean? Does that exclude 'test tube' babies? Babies born after artificial insemination?

Other than that though, I don't see what's wrong with wanting your president to be of the same nationality.

I was slightly amused by a line in Demolition Man when Sly was in 2035 (or whenever) when Sandra Bullock casually mentioned that Arnie Schwarzenegger had been elected President due to popularity polls.

    Nice.

ummm, not quite true there... Alan Turing, you know the ENGLISH dude who made the computer that broke the enigma code. that was the starting point of it all.

and anyway, the americans (in general no-one specific) are just fat english people anyway.

    Wink Taking the p**s

I think chrisjk probably does have a point; it is unfair to pick on the Americans so much.

They're just such easy targets, aren't they?

That is the way it always is. Inventors here come up with cool ideas/products, but then they take them to the US to get made/marketed because no company in the UK wants to take the "risk". In the end, we miss out.
Maybe old alan did, but he didn't take it further like Big Blue and build a billion-pound industry from it did he?

    Thumbs down Come on now!

If we carry on insulting the Americans, at this rate, they'll all leave VB-World and find an american friendly site where they can 'chit-chat' without fear of ridicule and/or abuse.

Also, being English myself, I am all too aware of how close we are behind America on the 'most-hated country' chart of the world!

I am a 'Natural' born US Citizen. But you know what? I still feel that the only TRUE americans are the Indians. Everyone else has come from other countries. That is what makes america great...we are the worlds melting pot.

    Are systems here do suck...Judicial...election...taxes..etc...

    they need to be changed.

But I must say enough with the negative comments about us...we are very often one of the first countries (and sometimes the only country) to help others! Hell sometimes we spend more money helping other countries than we do on ourselves!

    my 2 cents

I have no idea about Churchill but......

You should sit on this side of the computer and feel the hatred, animosity and ill will washing over you first thing in the morning............then I don't think you'd take it so lightly.

Don't let it bother you. This is one of the few times I can quote my mother and it actually be correct.
