This morrow I was delayed briefly while walking past a "Bus Stop", I believe they are called. A young personage best described as inexpensively attired had cause to attract my attention by grunting an incoherent exclamation in my general direction.

I greeted said delinquent in a manner befitting our respective standings and pardoned myself for not having comprehended his opening remark and beseeched he re-iterate. He went on to repeat himself in a slightly louder and more irritable tone of voice. This was unfortunate because his poor posture and low-breeding simply caused the verbalisations to be lost among the sounds and indeed smells of the city.

Once again, but now with growing concerns for my impending lateness, I indicated my inability to understand the person's entreaty and bid the youth a polite farewell and recommenced my journey to work.

However, I was taken aback to hear a finely enunciated outburst of disdain as I departed. I can only surmise that it was aimed at someone else. The standard of manners among the young persons of the street is most distasteful.

I've been out of work for the last 6 weeks. This morning I had decided to take the bus down to the local government employment agency to try and find myself a job. The problem is to get to the agency I have to transfer on three different buses - and wait a total of 35 minutes at stops for the next bus.

The worst part is the routes are so darn confusing that I had to write it all down on a piece of paper - detailing when the buses are coming and which buses to transfer to.

I was already upset that it was cold this morning - but the strong wind that blows threw the city streets would pick up now and then, making it very chilling.

About 5 minutes before my first bus was to arrive, I pulled out my piece of paper with my transfer information to make sure everything made sense. All of a sudden, a strong wind blew the thin paper out of the grip of my gloves and straight under the shoe of some uppity business guy.

Thinking I would just pick it up as he stepped away - I realized the paper was stuck to his shoe. As I was about to stop the man - he purposefully went out of his way to drag his foot on the concrete at least four times - tearing and smearing the piece of paper with my transfer schedule into an obviously illegible mess. I shouted out to him. He glanced my way said some uppity nonsense and then proceeded to walk on by.

I shouted again to express how dumbfounded I was at this man's total ignorance and insensitivity. He never even looked back. What is this world coming to?

Seriously, any State on the West or East Coast (barring South Carolina) is an easier place to find a job.

Earlier today I was using a very confusing transport system when I eventually found myself at a bus stop, in the middle of a borough or town which was completely unknown to me. The place was strangely deserted, but I assumed that the people would be friendly so that I could ask someone for help.

Along came an old guy wearing a trenchcoat, a top-hat and a Mickey Mouse tie, with a frown on his face. I turned to him and said, "Excuse me," as he walked past. The man stopped and turned and his frown turned even deeper. "What is it, peasant?" he asked. He then eyed me up and down staring at my t-shirt and jeans as though I was wearing clothes befitting someone who had just crawled out of a gutter. I asked, "Could you give me a little help with directions?"

"Eh??" he asked loudly. He leaned forward, turning his overgrown ear towards me; tufts of ear-hair and ear-wax had encrusted his hearing aid and that may have been why he was unable to hear me in the first place, and so raising my voice I said "Could you please help me with some directions?"

He stood up straight, looked at me and said "Sod off, yob!" and walked away.

As he walked away, I asked "What's a yob?" and he replied "I'm going to post about this on VBForums, Mendhak, toodleloo".

Then he clicked his heels twice and was gone.
