    [2005] I Miss Windows XP :-(

seriously, been using Vista for a month now, I've almost cried sometimes wishing I can revert, but knowing how much hassle it will be to get my machines back to Windows XP. The sleek user interface, the fastness of it all, (groaning like Homer when he thinks about donuts) oh Windows XP, I miss you.

I miss people who know that a VB.NET forum is not the place to whine about the fact that they don;t like a new OS. Grow up.

Just so you know, this is a forum full of "professional" developers. 80% of us got it and are with Microsoft still. If you have questions, ask. If you want to complain, leave. This isn't some buddy, buddy place where we all gang up on Microsoft; regurgitating the baseless rumors and mis haps of the operating system (which inevitably, always falls to the hands of the user).

We're here to help you make yourself better. Not keep the IT industry easily digestible and placed in a pillform.

Microsoft puts allot of planning and development into a new OS. Its usually just ketting used to it before you start to love it and see all its new power and features. But after a few months of using it you will be like "XP, what is that?"

Come on Rob. This isn't General Developer at all. It's General PC at best, but more fittingly Chit Chat. There's nothing to do with development, no request for help and no information of value. It's just a whinge. That's CC fodder.

well in any case you can open up your "themes" and make vista resemble XP perfectly even down to the start menu. Although desktop controls will still bug the crap out of you.

What the heck are you talking about pal?
Guy dislike Vista and you tell him that nonsense? Common... I hate Vista too, so what?
It's a nightmare for developers, everybody knows that.
Slick interface? Sure - kids love it! What else? Nothing! Just like new Office - someone likes the new "slick" ribbons and I hate it...

But you should not bash on anyone just because someone dislikes something! Period!

@jmcilhinney: your sarcasm was a bit ovet the top (imho anyway).

I personally am fed up with all this crying over Vista, keep it to yourselves.

Its the same type of crying we hear from the VB6:ers trying to transfer to VB .Net...new things ARENT always bad, its just that it takes time adjusting. You cant expect Vista to be like XP. I know many people using Vista and are happy with it, including myself. Are you sure you are meeting up to the minimum system requirements? And have you downloaded all the updates?

I think all's been said and this thread is not serving any useful purpose.
