Not sure but this code is returning incorrect values for freaking f mod

++$blah;
$r = fmod($blah, 3); 

First iteration of the loop that this code is in returns null, second returns 1 third returns 2 fourth returns 0.

++blah is a counter var in the loop and initially is set to 0 before the loop.

First iteration should be 1 then 2 then 3 then back to 1

Why doesnt stupid php have a standard mod operator?

Well using code like in #2 doesnt have any drawbacks from not using the mod function? If its good enough then I will leave it as is.

Modulo is far faster—not that that's ever really relevant, though—and it's also easier to read.

Ah crap, I just looked at the code again and last night I had used a counter var to track which column I was on vs using fmod or floor to divide the iteration and determine which col. There were other issues using this method that caused the dynamic building of the table to fail like needing to close the </tr> and checking for last record and if needing to conditionally float the colspan and div width etc.

Oh well, but thanks for the complete understand of it now.
