win2000 and 250 hd
Hi guys,
I am having a problem on why does the win2000 can't read my 250 hd. Our specs is c2d and msi neo mobo. Now we installed win2003 but the problem is we can not connect to the sql2000 server so what i am thinking is to go back to win2000.
Thanks guys. God bless

Re: win2000 and 250 hd
Which can't read the 250hd? Win2000 or Win2003?
What happens when you try to connect to SQL Server 2000?

Re: win2000 and 250 hd
it's a compatibility issue. You evidently don't have the latest service packs on 2000 but what you really need to be asking is "why can't i connect?" I like 2000 a lot but 2003 is better in many ways especially in the way you control users. Create a thread listing your problem connecting sql2000 server to 2003, or try applying the information in this quote:
Q: Can SQL Server 2000 be installed on Windows 2003
Answer:
Well the answer is a simple "YES".
But having said that we do have some pre-requisites for the same. You will have to first install SQL2000. A warning message may come up saying that SQL Server2000 SP2 or lower is not supported on Windows 2003.But thats just a reminder for you to apply SP3a or later.
When you first install SQL it will disable all network libraries except shared memory, preventing remote connections. Applying SP3a will re-enable them.
Make sure its not Win2k3 Web Edition as the only version of SQL allowed on that is MSDE2000 SP3(a).

Re: win2000 and 250 hd
Thanks @Penegate
@Hack and @Lord
Sorry for confusing you guys. The problem is the win2k can not read my 250 hd. It can only read 150 gig. This I think answered by Penegate.
Now @Lord
I've tried the Win2003 and sql2000. But the problem is that we can not register the sql2000 server located in win2003 to our sql registration in our computer. Though the sql2000 in win2003 can run the sql registration. Now i have installed the sp3a but the problem is that there are missing files in the exe that i have downloaded in Microsoft. The setup.bat could not find the Setup.exe.

hmm. Don't know what to tell you. That is the exact same issue everyone else has. It works from the computer it is on but no where else. Do a manual search for the setup.exe or extract it yourself. It's an old patch and hasn't been supported for 2 years.

Re: win2000 and 250 hd
I did a manual search already but to no avail it is nowhere to be found. I tried the service pack4 though and I am testing it for stablity testing. I don't know but we really like to upgrade now from win2k to win2003. Anyway do you have any suggestion on win2003, about any issues? thanks and God bless
