    Book recommendations...

I have a few VB2005 manuals. I found, while developing my scanner application (Windows CE 5) that the manuals don't really address my situation. Are there any books that specifically target programming for Windows CE 5 using VB2005?

As an example, The WROX reference manual talks a lot about the properties of the ListBox. However, in a Windows CE environment, those properties don't exist (ie; multiple columns).

Maybe this is an OJT environment.

    Hi,
there is only really 1 book out at the moment targeting the CF Version 2 and that is Microsoft Mobile Development Handbook which is excellent - OK I am biased as I was one of the technical reviewers.

There are several targeting CF1, notably the ones from Larry Roof and Dan Fergus, Paul Yao and Andy Wigley

I would go with the Mobile development handbook personally

Also. Sorry but i have to mention this...And correct me if i'm wrong.
    Complete lack of API!
No API's, so i'm guessing this is a book of extensive cover of .net classes?

    Hi,
I would be wary of posting the link to the CHM unless you are 100% sure it is legal - I know the authors aren't aware of any authorised link.

As far as the API is concerned, very few books cover it, as it is usually the subject of books on their own. Take a look at http://www.pinvoke.net/ for pretty good coverage of the API

Yes i suppose you are right.
Also pinvoke is a great site. Use it alot. Bu a good api book would be great since the examples are very brief.

The book includes a section on Platform Invoke and COM Interop, there are numerous code samples containing wrappers for system APIs including (but not limited to) Sound, Connection Manager, GPS, RAS etc

Please do not post links to an electronic version of the book. Posting or receiving a digital version of the book is wrong both ethically and legally.

    Yes i won't post it.

Now that's a subject under discussion (probably on another forum) when i have to pay 50Euros for every single book or pay 50Euros for ADSL and get every book i need.
Credits to the writers etc, yes but with lower prices.
Anyway that just me (that would have spend thousands of Euros in order to get the books i want for SQL,JAVA,ASSEMBLY,.NET,ASP,MOBILE,C++,API,WMI etc.)

    P.S.
Peter thanks for your mobile classes, helped me a lot.Although i struggled a lot to create a Pocketoutlook.dll for 2003 smartphone emulator myself.
