Actually I have 2 computers in my room with modem (but not with LAN card) and i want to make a small net using existing hardware .. is it possible to do that useing MSComm Control or any other API? Please help me regarding this if possible...

It's not possible to do it with regular modems. If you have null modems, you can get a null modem cable, but that would probably be more expensive than buying two cheap lan cards ($15 each) and a crossover cable.

I'm not sure if you can do this with software, but I know you can buy phone line network hardware. Not sure how much or how common it is, but I've seen it around.

I'm sure it is however you would need a NULL modem cable. This is a special cable that works on your serial ports of your computers.

Its not very fast though. A couple of cheap Net cards and a cross over cable like MidgetsBro suggested is much faster. (My two cents )
