right, i need a name for my supposed company, i will write little utilitities for windows such as my alarm program and my timer program (check my website in my sig) but i really need a better name for the company than "Merlin Computers" plus someone already has this as a url,

so what i need is an original name for my company and for the name not to be already taken so i can use it as my url

i haven't anything to offer you for your help but my gratitude and that warm glowing feeling you get for helping people,

thanks for all of your suggestions

How about MegaHard, or Pear Raincoat.
If it wasn't for this sentence I wouldn't have a signature at all.

    SPANKY CORP.

Most normal names are going to be taken for url's and you don't really want a long name that you have to rattle of when giving out the website so what about something like

    codesquad

    or

    runtime

    or

strippersrus (I know for a fact it's available)

    or

    daggersoft

    or

    razorsoft

    or

    tooltech

Just some thoughts of the top of my head (the clean thoughts anyway),

    Talking huh

If you still haven't gotten it, try thinking of something that's around you! For example, where I was born (Bulgaria), there is a castle named "Baba Vida" so I took the "Vida" part and I took "Tec" from Technologies and I put them together and I have a "supposed company" just like you! You can check it out here! VidaTec I got it up working only a few days ago so about 95% of the stuff is not set up yet, but I'll get it working soon!

zmerlinz, you're starting a company, right? I came up with a company that I will start when I get older(I got the idea 3 yrs ago).

Comtech Computers Corporation. The name comtech.com, comtechcorp.com, already exist. I will try and use the initials of my company's name. My site is going to be www.ctcc.com (DO NOT TAKE THAT DOMAIN OR I SHALL BE !!!VERY!!! ANGRY!).

    Hit And Miss Sharks limited.

or more seriously (and a little cheesily)

    Sorcerous Software

    or

    SorcerySoft

    etc

    The Conjurer Coding Company?

    I'm running out of ideas...

Regarding the Strippers r' Us idea. Me and a bunch of mates were going to set up a company called this a few months ago, with the ostensible aim of making an internet site were people could log in and order strippers for parties and the like.

We were all going to chip in a couple of grand each, or even try and get a government grant, and then go off on a two week tour of strip bars in North America getting pissed up.

We'd all then come home, declare that our "research" showed that it wasn't viable, shut the company down and write the whole holiday off against tax.

Our wives stopped the idea though when they realised that we weren't joking! So if anyone else wants to do this, feel free.

Back to the company name though, how about something grand and impressive!

Like "Zorg the Mighty's Intergalactic Trading Corporation."

I tell you, in a few thousand years Zorg the mighty will be prepared to pay a good few thousand Spankies (the currency of the future) for the rights to that name!
