Hi;
may I use icons of windows xp in my commercial software?
May I use KDE's* or GNOME's* icons in my commercial software?
*
Linux GUIs they are opensource and free

Most likely not but you really have to read the EULA very carefully.

For commercial soft I'd rather buy. How much can bunch of icons cost you? 10-20 bucks?

Perhaps but why whould you hassle your software that you spent months or even years to write for a lousy few dollars?
There is nothing free in this world - once things you sell become successful someone willl try to claim rights over a stupid icon.
