    Thread Notification

    Hai all,

Is there any option in the forum which if i enabled, i will notify the topics as they posted in a perticuler forum (i.e. Classic Visual Basic).

I have seen that VBF Member Randem will immediatly atten when ever an installation related question is posted. (He seems to be an installer expert ) so i though he might me tracking the topics.

I'm not sure, but I think you are talking about activating a thread subscription.

If you click Thread Tools, you will see a menu item called "Subscribe To This Thread"

Hack, Subscribe to this thread only notify new posts in the perticuler thread.
what just i asking is about a type of notification when enabled, one get notified the topics as they posted. so the subscriber can pick the one he is able to answer without refreshing the forum every time for new threads.

I think some people are simply on the forum all the time, so they know when new posts are done.

Did you look to see if you get the "Subscribe to this Forum" option? I know mods have it. You should see it when you are on a forum index page in the drop down list for thread or forum tools.

Mr. Brad yah, But it seems, Daily or weekly. If i am correct 'Daily' mean at the end of the day you posts bulk of threads posted. but what i mean is a notification as soon as a thread started.

My question would be if it is a brand new thread, how will you know that you are interested in it? What would be the point of the notification?

' ". I decide to go and answer this thread. Coz i have a knowledge in VB Classes. A little later Again Gmail Popups UP an tell you have a new message 'VB Forums New Thread - Do VB Syntax similler to C++". Re: Thread Notification

As far as I know regular users can only get bulk email updates to subscribed forums, not instant notification of new threads. The latter requires an admin to set up.

    Re: Thread Notification

If you are talking about one of the heavily traveled forums, why would you even want that? This sounds like one of those fables involving a genie and a bottle. A single thread can fall two pages down over the course of a day, you could get absolutely hammered with notifications. The amount of chaff would be so high that the wheat would be hard to find, especially if you get all posts to a particular forum.

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

Shaggy, No, Notification for only the topics of threads one posted. Subsiquent replies are depending on 'Subscribe to This thread'.

Honestly, I don't know. I've never tried as a registered user. Surely can't hurt to give it a try though.

    Yes, this is the case.

When I first job the mod staff, Martin set it up so that I got instant email notifications of any new threads that were started in the sections to which I was assigned. Only a admin can set that up.

    that's evil...

but if everyone would be able to do it, i think the mailserver would sooner or later get overloaded.
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

No hack, that's something else. There are 2 different ways to subscribe to a forum, one being in the adminCP, and the other being in the forum tools dropdown.
