    Resolved [RESOLVED] Vista compatibility

    Hello

I have run into some problems with my program and was thinking this might have something to do with my operatingsystem. I know there are some compatibility issues between Vista and VisualStudio 2003, but don't know how these issues tend to show themselves.

I would appreciate if someone with knowledge in this area could tell me of some of the most common errors so that I can spot them in the future.

What specific problems have you run into with your program?

You can get the free Express version of 2005 from Microsoft's site (you knew that, right?)

    Re: Vista compatibility

Well, one of the problems is that when I have started the program I chose a function which starts a new form and opens it. When Im in this second form, inputing values in textboxes and gridviews I all of a sudden loose the instance of the second form (cant remember what the error was right now, but it was the same as if I didnt initialize a normal integer for example).

The second was that I run out of memory, which is strange. But this problem I have only been able to see once, i.e have not been able to duplicate it and therefore cant say if it will be a problem. But I have had some problems with speed, and it really shouldnt be any problems. Im not the best programmer there is, but I dont think the simple task of getting input from a user and storing it in an arraylist can be made that complicated as to slow down a computer that is sort of new.

I did not know I could use a free version of 2005, will that be working fine with Vista?

    Re: Vista compatibility

2002 and 2003 are not officially supported on Vista. 2005 is supported on Vista but only with the VS SP-1 and VS Update for Vista.

Both the paid versions of 2005 and the free Express version of 2005 are supported but only with the service packs and vista update for either paid or express.
