Thread subscriptions
Once you're no longer interested in a thread, is there any actual advantage in unsubscribing from it, I mean do thread subscriptions represent some sort of burden?

Re: Thread subscriptions
It makes for good housekeeping, but I'm not sure about an actual advantage.

I assume that's because a link to each subscribed thread must be kept which takes a bit of room.

Re: Thread subscriptions
The space that it takes is really kind of small (from what I understand anyway), but the housekeeping I was referring to is ensuring your personal subscription list holds only those that you are actively interested in. If you don't keep an eye on it, it can grow quite large over time.

As a matter of fact I only became aware of this subscription thing long after I joined the forums and, to be honest, I have never really become concerned about unsubscribing until now. No question it's going to be some job.

Re: Thread subscriptions
I've never bothered deleting them, as the worst that will happen is you'll get a notification that you aren't interested in.
In terms of storage you shouldn't worry - if it was an issue then Robdog, Hack and myself would all have been asked to delete ours!

Re: Thread subscriptions
One tedious way to subscribe or unsubscribe to any thread is to choose the "Thread Tools" option near the top, right of the thread and choose the "(un)subscribe to this thread" option on the menu.

Yep, after hearing from all of you guys I'm definitely not going to unsubscribe unless some sort of multi-unsubscribe tool is provided.

Re: Thread subscriptions
I think Joe once said he can delete all of someone's subscriptions, but not selectively.

Re: Thread subscriptions
Perhaps leave the old ones alone, but if you subscribe to one today, and then in a couple of days get what you want out of it, you can always unsubscribe from it as an individual thread. If you maintain that type of practice, then at least your subscriptions won't continue to grow.

Re: Thread subscriptions
You can always change your subscription options in your profile options. Switch t to No Subscription. Then anything you post to will not get subscribed. If you want to be subscribed to a thread then you manually subscribe. This may be an easier way to be subscribed selectively for future threads.

Re: Thread subscriptions
Yes, but you have to do that one at a time and that get can tedious if you are trying to unscribe to multiple threads.

Re: Thread subscriptions
lookie what i found. In UCP, under "Subscriptions" menu, is "List Subscriptions". there you can select all the threads you are subscribed to and delete them at the bottom. All you have to do is check all the ones you dont want

Re: Thread subscriptions
I dont know why this thread is so long but ...
The subscribed threads link is in at least two basic locations in the user control panel so its not an issue to list them but the original issue is that changing the subscription from one of those links doesnt unsubscribe or something like that (forum bug). The solution was to open the thread and unsubscribe from the thread tools menu. End of story.

Re: Thread subscriptions
Because delete subscriptions is broken on this forum and we haven't been able to track down the cause. It's not a simple matter to correct.
