Re: [SERIOUS] Carrier in cold fusion

Cold Fusion is a different web programming "language". Think of how different asp, asp.net, php are all different types of server side web programming you can see how cold fusion is just another one of those types.

    Ultimately the decision is yours.

Learnning another language never hurts but you must be able to make it through it too so you can get to the C# stuff that they "promissed.

ColdFusion is an Adobe product nowadays.

Whether you take the job is up to you. Are you comfortable with your current job? If so, consider whether you really want to leave.
If not, then consider whether you feel comfortable learning a new language.

Variety of experience is always good for your resumé and will make you more attractive to other employers in the future, beyond either of these jobs.

    Don't be afraid.
Learning and adapting to new things are the most important skills a developer can have. Almost no-one wants to employ someone who can only do one thing, regardless of whether they do it well or not; if you do get picked up by someone, it'd most likely be a dead-end job that would be no help to your career.

If you don't want to get stuck in your current job, and you believe that this one will help you out, then I advise you to pick up a book on ColdFusion, and dive into it head-first.

    Re: Carrier in cold fusion

If you are only good at one thing you are less attractive to potential employers.
If you do get employed, despite being only good at one thing, the job is likely to suck and not help your future job prospects at all.

Now if you can demonstrate to people that you are good at a variety of different things, that makes you more employable, and also demonstrates that you are flexible and can learn even more things.
This is the type of employee that software companies want, because software development is such a rapidly-changing world.

I started to learn Coldfusion and it was somewhat confusing for me. I would like to pick it up again this summer, b/c like pena said, looks good on your resume.

    Are there zeros missing?

Anyway, it's a 20% increase, plus you will learn something new. Nothing to lose.

If you are always afraid of tackling something that you don't know how to do, then you will never grow as a professional. I don't care what your occupation is.

Always keep the good relations with your old co-workers regardless - send emails, give them a call once in awhile (birthdays, holidays, etc).
It's a small world and there is a great chance some of you may work together again.
