Problem starting pc

when i want to startup my comp it only beeps. Every few seconds it gives a beep. Nothing else happens.
I think that it is missing something, and gives the beep for it. But i cant find what it could be it is missing.
Nothing to see on screen.

someone out there that can give me a clear answer to this problem ?

It could be due to a few things,

1) Hardware that is incompatible
2) Hardware not installed correctly
3) No Operating system installed.

If you don't see anything on the screen and you here beeps then you need to look up the beep codes.

You probably need to find the manual to your mobo or the manual that came with the computer or just look it up online. it will tell exactly what the beep code means.

However, a single beep could mean you are getting power but your monitor is messed up.

In other words you need to troubleshoot more.

If you are getting a black screen and your monitor is good then open your case and pull out the memory. If you hear the no memory beep code it means you mobo and CPU are good. This also means you memory is probably bad. If you don't hear no memory beep codes your mobo or proc or both are bad.

If you can see your POST output and screen isn't black then you just need to read the error message.

resetting your video card would be good at this point too.

Every few seconds it gives a beep. Nothing else happens.

Seems to me one of these can be an issue,

1.) If the beep is short(around one second) missing the video card. Unplug it and fix again, check that work.

2.) If the beep is long(around two-three seconds), says that memory is missing. Check your RAM.

3.) If the beep is too long(more than four seconds) your power unit is dead, but as you say it can't be.

If you have access to one, borrow a friend's monitor and see if it powers up. As stated earlier, some systems won't boot if the monitor is so much as turned off. I happen to have one myself. do this before trying anything else.

If you have made any system changes in the bios lately, you can manually reset it to factory settings to see if it will boot then. Open the computer case and look for a jumper near the battery. Unplug the computer cord, wait a couple of seconds for capacitors to discharge, then close the jumper. If there isn't a bridge there for you to use, you will have to use something else, like a spoon or screwdriver. Now reset the computer.
If it doesn't boot up, take out one ram chip at a time and inspect it. Check all connections. A loose ide cable could cause this. If your video card has a molex connector, unplug it and plug a different one into it.

The beeping you described if memory serves is monitor, but can also be caused by other things. Try powering up with only one ram chip in an end slot. Then switch it for a different chip. Make sure your video card is seated. Unplug it and plug it in again after checking the contacts for dirt. Unplug every perhiferal from the computer except the monitor (including hard drives and cd-rom) and see if it posts. If you look up beep codes off the internet, make sure you look them up for your exact motherboard, because there is no standard on beep codes.
