It depends on how much my family uses it..... if I'm the only one that uses it, it only crashes about once per day, but if my brother uses it, seems like about 5x+

Well Parksie...you should not discount the fact that
you are a hard core programmer and a lot of code
you write - even your computer fails to understand it!

Memory does not make any difference to resources -- you'll run out just as fast.

Greater the Memmory Greater should be the effort form
the OS to maintain and control it.

For Example Maintaining a SWAP space becomes
Resource Hungry with The amount of RAM you have.

What are resources, then, if it's not memory?

dunno, but you can monitor them with
    C:\WINDOWS\RSRCMTR.EXE
    which says:
    System: 9%
    User: 9%
    GDI: 14%
i know theyre not proportional to amount of memory used, and seem to be proportional to amount of handles used.

Dennis you think Memmory is the only Resource ?
I tend to think.. Processing Time is the Most Important.

I thought I had problems, geeeeez. Win98 crashes maybe 5 times a day. But when it does, it does big time. It seems IE 5.5, Geoff's VB ForumBrowser, Outlook and VB do not sit happily together (plus the mryiad of things in the system tray - 11!)

11 things in the systray? i have 5 currently and 2 of them at startup. I have usually like 15 browsers open, that's probably what eats up all resources, but i know i can relogin and most of them will return, but the thing needs restart once in a while anyway

I remember that win98 & se have a problem with handling memory >128mb. My computer only crashes if I try to run other tasks while running UT.

Really, i've got 320MB, might explain a lot. I thought it could handle 4GB?!?!

I got the most stupid error message earlier after it had a bit of a "turn". It said I didn't have enought memory to run FreeCell!!!! I mean, yeah right.

It's probably not JUST memory. I only have 32 MB and my computer hardly EVER crashes (except when I run my Memory program - for eact byte in memory zeromemory byte )

I think the HD "swap file" (win386.swp) and the processor has something to do with it.

    Anyway, 24+5=1 (6 days/crash).

My computer very rarely crashes, i think it is becasue i have ME and 96 mb of ram, though i want some more, i only have 4 things in the systray aswell, this does help

though i do wonder about the BSOD when i get them, instead of saying that something.vxd caused a memory error or something like that, i just seem to get the template, all it says is .......... has caused an error, press any key to continue

    strange huh ??

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Mine crashes whenever I disconnect from the net and try do connect a second time. Or... when I have about 20 IE windows opened (nasty web-pages that multiply themselves). My buds are very nice to me...

About that... thanks some of you. I think some of my 'buddies' liked that c:/con/con stuff
