    Poems and Romance

I need some advice, i have written a poem to girl that i like , this is the first attempt at writing a poem since i was in primary school and i just want some advice on it. In addition to any advice, i would also like to know of any romantic ways of presenting a poem that can really make her happy,

    Any ideas?

Write it in chocolate icing on the back of a blank cheque.

When ever I feel romantic it is usually accompanied by a 60 hour work week, could be coincidence

It's actually a surprisingly good poem and might just work. Careful though, it's fine line between hopeless romantic and just plain hopeless.

Thanks, i want to show her that i really do care about her, i'm just having a hard time trying to find a way of presenting it to her, i will be reading it to her, i just want the perfect spot, i was thinking about the beach or something but it is actually getting quite cold here in the North East.

Why does the whole poem say "I miss you" if you're going to be reading it to her?

Send it in a card, or on a card in some flowers. Girls love that kind of thing.

Reading it to her may not always work, she may just appreciate reading it to herself as it's less embarrassing (for both of you) and it will be more personal to her

    Good luck

    Devil's Advocate time...

Are you doing this out of depseration because you haven't talked to her in 2 days? If so (or really, if not also) - does she except this kind of a reaction from you? Girls like surprises; that's true... But they always forget to mention the qualifier "subtle surprises." They like to be surprised without really being surprised.

If that doesn't make sense - let me use a quick analogy. Girls like finding a $5 bill in the couch. Thats a nice, pleasant, subtle surprise. Girls don't like jack-in-the-boxes that unleash a punching nun doll.

Make sure she somewhat expects this kind of reaction before you go through with it. If you haven't talked in 2 days - wait until you do. Don't let this be the ice breaker after this supposed absence.

Well, there's nothing more romantic than a spontaneous gesture.

She loves spontaneous gestures, she loves anything that makes her smile when she wasn't expecting it. I'm just trying to make this relationship work, it is kind of hard to explain because their is history behind us (positive and negative) i just don't want to go over it in a public forum for all to see, if it was through PM or MSN or something then i would explain it better to give a general idea on what the situation is like. Thanks for your advice though, i'd be interested to see what other advice you have on relationships , i need all the help i can get...

I dunno, I made a sponaneous gesture to a truck driver on the M3 this morning. He didn't look turned on by it

I think VB's suggestion of a card is bang on the money. Make sure you're credited so she knows you took the time to write it and you've instantly got a very personalised gesture that's still far enough within the realms of normality so she won't run screaming, "Agh, Stalker, Stalker".

Mind you, what do I know. It's been so long since I got any that my cherry's grown back!

    Re: Poems and Romance

In regards to what happened, in case any of you are interested, i could not get flowers because we are saving to go away on holiday, i was looking around and the boquets were a little expensive and she does not like having a lot of money spent on her. So i had no choice but to go with my first option and read it out to her.

So, i went round after work and, much to my surprise, she made me a poster and it included all the things she loved about me and memorable moments we have spent together, it was the sweetest thing ever. I told her that i had written a poem for her and i will never forget the smile on her face, it was sweet, so i read it out to her and at the end she had started crying, i was kneeled down when i was reading it and she was on her computer chair and she just dropped on me and cuddled me and told me that she loved me. I couldn't help but feel bad about making her cry but she said it was a good thing because they were tears of happiness.

She was telling me all day about how much she missed me and how she was listening to the same song on repeat which reminded her of me. I have never been so happy in my entire life lol. I
    love her loads .

Thank you to all that helped me, i needed the support

See, the cynic in me says those are tears of regret.

Maybe she had some 'relations' with some one else just the other night - and now she's internally torn on the inside having done it.

    Anyway, good for you!

Cynicism such as that is usually why most relationships fail . I tend not to think about things like that because it upsets me and i always feel bad when i think it because it means i am questionning and doubting the trust i have in her, besides I know she isn’t that type of girl, I trust her a lot.
