Re: Optical Mouse
Have you tried using the mouse on a different surface?
As they use light, how the surface 'looks' makes a big difference.

Re: Optical Mouse
Im using a Dell mousepad. It's sometimes ok but there are times that it will automatically go crazy by itself.

Re: Optical Mouse
Then its probably the surface. Im using my mouse on a music store catalogue And I cant use the mouse over the white parts of the catalogue because it'll flip out then.

Yeah it could be the surface. I swipe my hands and feel the surface. I found out some tiny humps on the pad. geez!

Exactly the surface make a big different.
When I'm using an optical mouse first time, used it on a glass surface. Because at that time I just misses the key points.

Re: Optical Mouse
Using an optical mouse on a reflective or translucent surface is bound to cause problems. If you have a fairly smooth and non-reflective desk then I recommend that you simply forego the mousepad and use it directly on the desk. Mousepads are more a relic of the days when you had to be wary of dust and so on entering via the mouse ball.
I currently use a Logitech G5 laser, and have been using an optical mouse for about 3 years with no issues. Laser mice are actually also optical, they simply use a small infrared laser rather than an LED to provide illumination for the sensor. There is no 'risk' or anything.

I agreed with you, Penagate. I use a Logitech G5 about one and half year. still no any issues on it.

We have a few dozen Dell computers, all with Dell optical mice, and all exhibit the same problem from time to time. I've never seen it on any other optical mouse, even on the same Dell computers.
The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.
The second most difficult part is deciding how you're going to solve the problem.
Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.
