    I personally find the Larch (Larix decidua) highly interesting.

    Maybe you should branch out a little. Go out on a limb! With a bit of stick, I'm sure it could be easy to leaf the others in your shadow.

    If you find yourself in the presence of a black birch, then you might break off a twig and suck on it. They taste strongly of mint. My father tried tapping some at one point, thinking that you could boil the sap down and make a mint syrup. It worked, after a fashion. Tastes like cough syrup, though.
