    shared video memory

For some reason my shared video memory shows as N\A. Although i know that i have 64MB, i cant play many games because windows detects it as 0MB.

Has anybody had this problem before and also how do i fix it.

    Re: shared video memory

yes, windows update dosent find any. i have been looking on the abit website and updated them i still get the problem.

also i get this error message when i run the 3D tests:
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)

    Direct3D 8, Direct3D 9 successfully complete.

i am going to try another driver to see if this fixes the problem. I dont think it will as i have tried about 3 already.

also my CMOS settings are fine i checked them first.

The connection times out.. but luckily there are ways to see "previous" versions of pages, such as these copies of that page:
    http://web.archive.org/web/*/http%3A...%26model%3D136

(I haven't checked properly, but the downloads seem to work).

    Re: shared video memory

i have installed a graphics card 32mb memory, i know it works ok because it passed all the direct x tests on the computer that i got it from. now i have put it in mine and it doesent detect the memory on the card and direct3D and DirectDraw cant be accelerated.

    Re: shared video memory

That driver certainly doesn't appear to be the latest - see if there is a more recent one here.

You may also need to change settings in your BIOS to 'enable' the separate card.

You should also check that you have the correct drivers for your motherboard.

    Re: shared video memory

it is the latest, i installed the new one and it installed the same driver and control centre. From what i can see my bios settings are ok.

the link above in post 6 is my motherboards manufacturer but the server is still down. its a via chipset i know that. Do you know of any software to find out info about my motherboard so i can find out the exact model.

what i dont understand is it shows the amount of memory as N/A

Nope.. I usually just look at the board (the model should be written in big letters somewhere on it).
