How do you ping a website or a server

I need to ping a website or a server from within VB. I dont want it to run MSDos/Ping.exe!

is there an easier way of pinging a server?? Because that code is like 4 pages long when its not even going to be 1% of the program i'm making!

May be long, but it's worth it.

Is it possible to make your ping work with Letters as well? For instance "www.microsoft.com.au" because currently it falls over as soon as it tries to incorporate something like "www" into a Hexadecimal String which needless to say causes an error.


Any help on this matter would be great!

That is some pretty cool code. It's one of those little knick knacks in life that you have in the back of your mind and you never get around to it.
I am going to use it for this little app that i have that checks to see if all of our sites are up and modify it to see what the bandwidth is like. Thanks

What is the usage? Like, if someone clicks a button, How do I make it ping 1.2.3.4 with that code?
