Embedding Windows
I am trying to create a windows boot image for a Neoware thin-client. I am going to try to fit it onto a 32MB DiskOnModule (Flash drive with IDE connector). I was thinking of installing a minimal Windows 98 installation on a computer I have an then remove all the parts of the install that I don't need. The main problem I foresee is the drivers will be different to the ones required by the thin-client box.
If it wont fit onto the 32MB DiskOnModule then I plan to use a CompactFlash card and IDE adapter.
Does anyone know of any good resources for doing this kind of thing, and also do u think that my initial idea could work.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Embedding Windows
if you are just going to have it on a flash drive, then why not spend like 50-100 dollars and go get a 1 gig flash drive? They range in price..

Re: Embedding Windows
It certainly wont fit on 32MB. Look at the Solid State Drives in the following link.

Re: Embedding Windows
I already have the 32MB DOM as it came with the Neoware Thin-client i am going to use. If i cant get it to work i will use a CF card and IDE adapter.

Re: Embedding Windows
When did windows 98 start needing 2 gigs of HDD space?
It is possible to get it down to a few meg for a very basic install, which is all i want.

Re: Embedding Windows
i dont think so. As rory and i said, it is going to need at LEAST a gig... you will barly have enough room for one file to save on it.

Re: Embedding Windows
A standard install would require a few hundered MB, yes, but you can't install that on a USB drive.
You should look into Windows XP Embedded.
