Looking for gratis work
Hello. I'm an intermediate level VB6 (coverting to VB.net) programmer and to gain experience I do free programming work from time to time as my schedule dictates. I'd be interested in coding a relatively small app for you for free just for the experience. I can email you examples of code I've written if you like. Drop me a line!

Re: Looking for gratis work
Hi there
I have a task for you then. I have a customer that neads a tool that will integrate with an existing application(that I have the source to)
Basically this is the task:
The program activates a WEB cam. The user points the cam on a customer, takes a snap and then, after the user accepts the photo taken, it just closes down.
The program neads to know the following and can be solved using registry or just a config/ini file.
Savepath, Width and height settings on the result and picture type. Actually, the picture type can be hardcoded but using pictures that dont take to long over a terminal server is preferable.
The filename is not asked for. This is passed with the EXE as a parameter. The EXE must bee called like this:
TakePicture.exe Picturename
And one more important thing. It has to work over Remote Desktop. This means that the customer must use a webcam connected to the computer. The application is running on my server through Terminal server. This means that the web cam connection must be available for the terminal server. There is a registry setting that can be used to let RemoteDesktop software pass every ports to the server. Serarch MSDN for more info.
If this works ok and my testing customers like it I will implement it widely on all my customers as a feature. This feature is probably going to be a Pay Once for each customer. If so, ther will be some payback for you.
Regards
Ole

Hi...just got back from Raleigh, NC-training seminar. Your request is interesting. I've never done anything with Web cams via code. Unfortunately your request comes too late for my schedule. I have a Formscape assignment that must get done. In fact, I was in NC specifically for Formscape.
Thank you for asking though.
