This has been the second or third day I've been like this. it only starts in the evening, during the day im fine. my gp is closed till Monday so wondering if anyone knows what it could be. also don't really have much of a temperature...seems normal

Are you tall?
I am 6" 4' and on daily basis I get a head rush, sometimes I will blackout and fall down, however sometimes it results in some blurred vision that you can easily shake off.
The wosrt time it happen I jumped up way to quickly from the sofa, blacked out and ended up smaking the TV stand, painful

Re: Not feeling well anyone know what it could be?
That's often a symptom of low blood pressure. I have a slight high blood pressure problem for which I have a prescription. However if I take a whole pill my blood pressure gets too low and I get dizzy when I stand up after sitting for a while. Taking half a pill still satisfactorily regulates my blood pressure and there's no problem with dizziness.

Re: Not feeling well anyone know what it could be?
When I was younger, I get dizziness spells (sometimes blackout) as blood rushes when I stand up. Apparently the doctor says it was my lifestyle. Watching too much Cartoons, basically being in front of the television for too long and too near.
Either I go to an ophthalmologist and get glasses, or I avoid television as much as I can, and be as far away as I can. I did the latter, as I don't need glasses yet.
Now, I rarely have that unless I have been sedentary for too long...

Mono is cross-platform though. You can feel ill on any OS you like.
I don't live here any more.

Well, Mono usually makes you fatigued.
My unprofessional opinion:
It's a virus (sometimes they last 3 days to 2 weeks, sometimes 6 months) - nothing you can do other than don't exhaust yourself, eat well and get plenty of fluids and rest.
The ringing in the ears could be a number of different reasons - from inner ear infections (viral) to blood pressure (which could be temporarily off due to a virus).
One question: Do you smoke?

There is one thing wrong, your seeking medical advice from a developer forum. I hope you did get to the GP and took the advice here(no matter how well intentioned) with a grain of salt.

Seriously, that is NOTHING to do with height. I am 6 foot 5 inches tall and don't even get a head rush getting up quickly. It sounds like you've got blood pressure problems. Seek a doctor mate, it's not worth shrugging off

Nearly: I'm 5'11.
I occasionally experience dizzyness when standing up quickly, usually when I haven't eaten for a while.

Why not see a doctor? Maybe he can get you help with your drug problem too.

Re: Not feeling well anyone know what it could be?
These symptoms are just that - symptoms. You could be iron deficient, bleeding profusely from your leg (but you probably would have mentioned that), or have just run smack into a brick wall. All that and a lot more can cause light headedness.
So you should see the GP to get a first impression and get some elemental blood tests done (BUN, etc) first.
That said, I think its probably:
1) tinnitus - caused by a virus
2) and anxiety (that's what doctors will say after they can't find a cause for anything.)
Tinnitus can be made worse by nicotine. Your abrupt notice of it is most likely caused by some underlying viral infection that has exasberated the situation to where your brain is getting confused - since people rely heavily on their inner ear for balance. The more the signals get out of wack, the more the confused the brain gets, and you 'feel' sick in the head (hard to concentrate, read fine print like that on an aspirin bottle, etc.).
If the problem persists (a week or more) or gets worse, see an ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist who will probably find something (all doctors will take an educated guess and give you some sort of answer - even if its not remotely the cause. ).
If anything, you should feel lucky you don't experience it all day. If it happens at the end of the day, then you're just feeling it more because you are more exhausted.

I wouldn't see a doctor over every silly little ailment that crops up. Doctors are not people to be trusted unless you are suffering from something very severe.
You already know what the problem is, and you know how to alleviate it.
