    http://members.localnet.com/~gbng/

Plus an INSTALL! (with no controls incl)
(install is not updated to v2.2.1 yet)

Please let me know if it works ok...

    VBBrowser v2.2.1 Uploaded @ 11:47 PM 3/29/01

    Code:
    Features -

    Quick jump to diff sections
    Save threads
    RichTextBox enhanced Code WIndow
    -Auto send to Reply window
    -auto Code tags
-auto Color tags (code window show preview of how code will look posted)
    Members online list
Buddylist (not linked to the one in VB)
-both list allow right click and jump to info or PM page of member
-drag a name off the screen (hyperlink or 'profile' button) or the members list to add to buddylist
    -buddylist has online/offline list
built int New post and reply buttons
Auto Refresh at main screen of each section
(like VB general q ....but not in thread)
    quick top / botttom buttons
    Docakable buddylist(Changed)
BuddyList - Now docks to the left or right of the webbrowser (and expands to same height)
    ID Change (Commands menu...auto logout..etc..)
-Code window should now work more like VB - Color Keywords after Return (or line change with arrows)
    1.4.7-
    -IE 5.5 Issue!!! maybe
-new thread / post reply / save thread should enable/disable according to location....
-buddylist / members should now work too (try selecting a name & right click...test those)
(this fix is only for the main form..any other forms that had IE5.5 Problems are not fixed....)
-If you have IE5.5 Delete "Buddylist.bdl" before running this the first time...
I changed the quickjump combo to a popupmenu
Let me know if the idea sucked
Rightclick add/remove buddy now in place
    1.4.83 -
    Help file added
add a URL textbox (view menu)
    changed progress bar
fixed a few issues with the buddylist
    v1.5.0
URL textbox now shows current url
    menu Hide/show urlbox fixed.
changed URL button to hide/show URL textbox
saved thread should work now (I hope)
In preferences....wou can choose where to save threads (folder)
Code window should reduce [ color ] tags
--by combining word of the same color into same color tag
auto Refresh (main sections only) should be working again
changed progress bar...not sure it like it yet.
    v2.0.0
    Ok...simple IM will be available...
-I will have to add a list of Users (maybe a 3rd tab in Buddylist)
-You will need the IP of the User to make it work (that is if it will work at all! LOL)
-Right click on the user and pick Send IM and cross your fingers..
-if it works properly....it should then add the IP of the sender to your File...so once you have recieved an IM you will not need to add the ip for the sender. (I hope!)
-to get your IP...choose View -> Preferences
-it will show your current ID Name & Number also
    Good Luck...

I Am going to Post the Code & graphics on the site soon

this app was really never supposed to get this big! It has gotten messy (code wise). I may Start again and really plan it this time.
This app was never planned out...I kind of just stuffed in each new feature...
sooo...when you get the code....don't be too shocked at the disarray and bad planning :)

hell...I think I'll upload it now....

    v2.1.6
fixed Member/buddylist empty (html was changed in site)
a few updates to the code window (always tweaking)
Matthew Gates is now 2 words in the about window!
CLoase on cough added (midgets bro)
    more acurate enable/disable of buttons
Refresh SHOULD work on Back / Fwd

    v2.2.1
    Refresh fixed...
Menu - show code window fixed
Save code (other code appears) fixed (maybe :) )
Removed [ /code ] if the Add Code was Unchecked

    Thumbs up WOW

Wow, Geoff I see Great improvements from 1.4.2!!!
For some reason, I don't want to use IE anymore... I'm so addicted to this The only reason I use IE is because you're [::Hint, Hint::]browser doesn't have a URL box so I can go places[::Hint, Hint::]
If it had that, then I'll be using it as my defult browser...

    Great Job!

Just wanted to commend you on your Browser.
Everything looks great and you have alot of nice
    features.

I have one suggestion for your progressbar. Maybe
you could use a bmp to show the progress? I have
included a example in the zip file on how to do this.

I'm working on a custom browser of my own and have
included this feature. It's kinda of neat effect.

BTW: You can put me on the list of people who would
like the source code for your Browser. I'm fairly new to
VB and could learn alot from your source.

    Question ......

Did you by any chance forget to update the install file on your web site? Because I downloaded/installed it 3 times and I still get v1.4.7! I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, because I installed it in the same folder as the last one...

P.S. I don't know if you've noticed, but a lot of times when I'm done using it, when I hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete, it's still there. I have to force it to shut down (the program...not windows).

    >>Also I'm not sure but there *Might* be a bug with the Stop button. It only happened twice, but the same error message showed. I'm not sure how it happens, but if you click on the combo box with the saved threads, and you change your mind, and click away, if there is a saved thread that is showing in the combo box, it will go there. Well that's what I did and I hit stop and it gave me an error message "Run-time error '5' "....then somthing else, but I don't remember. I'll try to find out what actually causes the error and I'll give you the full message.

    That's it so far!

    Talking Yes

I was right about the run-time error. After I posted my last reply, I tried it and it gave me the error. I was right about the saved threads and and combo box. Just click and expand the combo, then click away from it so it closes, and it should start going to the page with the saved thread that was in the little window of the combo. Then wait about 1-2 seconds and press Stop. If it stops and it works normally, then try it again. I guess there is a time if the stop button is pressed it shows you that message. (See Attachment)

    That's it!

your right! I forgot to change the install....But I should put a note that says..if you run the install...you should be able to then just download the .EXE and copy it in.

Ok...I am not sure about the stop problem...I have just added the On error Resume next (that should take care of it) and have changed the save thread list to only go when the 'go' button is pressed.

I can't upload anything to my site during the day (all ftp is bloacked)

I'm not sure what you did, but all the little quirky problems I was having before are gone. New Thread, Post Reply, and Save Thread all work just great. The Members Online list works now, too. Thanks! This is really cool

When the URL box is shown (cool feature, by the way), the menu item to show it doesn't change. Do you plan to change this? Or is it another Patrick bug? On a different note, how's the chat feature coming along? That's gonna be real cool .

    Lightbulb Run-Time error

    Geoff,
I have an update on the Run-Time Error I'm getting. It turns out that the stop button works fine, it's the Saved thread combo that is the problem. I can't quite figure out what causes it, but I'll try to find out!

    P.S.

    Exclamation Weird Thing???

    This is kinda Strange...
I had the browser open while I was testing some code, and all of the sudden, all the browser's buttons' captions and pictures changed and it said "Microsoft Internet Explorer - Geeez" And the strange part is that this expression is from the code that I was testing in VB!
I don't think it's a bug, because afterwords, I restarted the browser and it was normal.
See the attachment to see what I'm talking about!

I'm guessing that you don't have the page auto-refresh functional yet. Maybe it's just me, but in the last couple of versions this feature hasn't worked for me.

I did get it working in my custom browser. The only way I could get it to work was by using the Download_Complete event. I tried enabling a timer to start counting after the pDisp object was true in the Document_Complete event, and it would work ok for that initial firing. Maybe if I would have Set pDisp Is Nothing in the timer right before I did a complete Refresh2 (3) I could have gotten it to work. I'm not sure you can do that though. If you get it to work in the Document_Complete event I'd like to know how it's done.....Like you don't have enough for that event to handle.

    I ramble on sometimes.......
Keep going with it, It's looking better all the time.

The strangest thing just happened to me. Well actually the second strangest thing, after the "Internet Explorer Geez" incident. I was just browsing, I sat back to cough, and looked back up and the browser was closed. I don't know what happened. It just clicked on this thread, then coughed, and it was gone. Strange...

PS What version do you plan on adding chat to it? I've seen some of your posts inquiring about the winsock control, so I know you're working on it. . Keep up the good work.

    the next release...

v2.0 will have at least a start. IM's Just to test really. It may completely BLOW UP! it may actually work. The only problem is some only a few people are using this....sooo I have to figure out...if you try to send a message to someone that is not using this..then to stop the send process...

some sort of if winsock error on connect then etc...

should be soon. If I can get this working.

And dont shoot me if it blows up!

this first shot at it will be just an inputbox system...

Midgets bro Do you have the "Close on cough" option enabled? if so...uncheck it.

Just wanted to say thanks for the source code, and I think I may have figured out a problem that people were having before. I remember some people were having a problem with a reference to:

    C:\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98

I recieved the same error when trying to run your app from the IDE. So I opened up frmMain with Wordpad and changed the location of were your webBrowser "WB" was pointing to. I just changed it to the same location as your wbOnline webBrowser:

    "res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm#http:///"

After the change no errors for me.....Thanks again

    Hehe .

I don't mind, but it was cool bein' on top .
And the good ol' refresher is back.
