Crystal XI Deployment
Good morning everyone!
My business is finally upgrading from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal XI. I have many reports created that I want the rest of my co-workers to be able to view from their computers. Does anyone know the files which are needed on my co-workers computers so that they are able of viewing my reports? I don't want to have to install XI on each of them...
Thank you!

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
What is the app written in (VB6 or .Net) If .Net there is an MSI for CR.Net deployment found on the Crystal website. For VB6 there should be a read me file that list the required DLL's. Or look in the Help section on Delpoyment in CR.

Sometimes the DBA

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
You don't deploy seperate files with Crystal Reports 9 thru XI Release 2. You deploy the merge modules that contain all the files needed for CR to work. It's a monster and will make your app about 100mb in size. This is the deployment method for VB6 and .NET systems.
CR is tied to the VSI installer but can be deployed with other installers with the creation of a MSI file that contains all the MSM files. You can find one here for all the above OS's if needed.

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
I added RDC Merge Modules and select CrystalReports11_rdc_license.msm; crystalReports11_rdc_license.msm, and crysatlReports11_rdc_runtime.msm; Why I can't see msi file in my output folder. There is TEM file in Disk_1 folder.
Do I miss something here?
Thanks for any help!

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
A complete description of what you are doing and how you are doing it would help. You have just started in the middle and I have no idea where it is going...

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
Thanks for the message!
I have a vb6 database application linked MS Access. Now I need to upgrade the application which will linked Access 2003 and using CR XI. So, I need to create a new installation to install to the users's PC to run the application.
I recomplied the new vb6 application linked Access2003 and CR XI and make a new vbp file. I installed crXI_rdc_merge_modules.zip file from Business Objects. Also, I installed Microsoft Visual Studio Installer 1.1. I used Visual Basic Install of three of the Visual Studio Installer Projects. Then picked vbp file to create Installer. I added the CRXI merge modules. Then click build button. Got the message: Source is invalid: u2post.dll, u2fesp.dll, u2fxm.dll, u2dpost.dll,u2fespv.dll,u2fxml.dll,MVSVCRT.MSM. Finally there is TEM file in DISK_1 folder instead of MSI file.
Could you please give some advice to fix the problem?
Thanks so much!

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
You need to deploy the Release 2 of the CR Merge Modules. Make sure you install the SP for Release 2 on your CR also.

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
I am cofused with your message. I am using CR XI developer edition. Do I need to install SP for Release 2? And do I need the Release 2 of the CR Merge Modules?

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
Yes, CR has many bugs in the release of XI and release an SP for it and therfore had to release new merge module support for it also.
You need CR XI Release 2 of the SP and the merge modules.

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
So, I should buy CR XI Release2 instead of CR XI or doesn't matter as long as get SP and merge modula.

Thanks so much!
I should use VB6 Package and deployment wizard or MS Visual install 1.1 to deploy my VB6 application?

Re: Crystal XI Deployment
Me personally would use neither, I use ********** and Inno Setup.
