any ideas? do i need to config the router differently or something?

Re: linux - cant access net
If you can connect to 192.168.1.1 you should be able to connect to any IP that's accessible to the public. I never had much luck with getting a Linux box connected to the internet until I installed Puppy - then it worked out of the box.

Can you get to the Internet via IP addresses? For example does http://63.236.73.220 show this forum?

Re: linux - cant access net
I remember changing a few settings like the default gateway and ip number on Ubuntu just the way you do on windows XP.It was pretty simple and straight forward.

The DNS server address(es) also matters.
