you cook meat too, so why does it matter what it's been eating?

You cook/barbeque/fry the meat, so that any parasites or bacterias will die.
The meat is also checked for diseases before it is shipped to the supermarked.

    Living things
    - Animals
    - Plants
    - Other living things

If you keep in mind that it was a living animal, how about living plants?

I guess you don't care about plants. My bamboo is now feeling sad.

I eat meat...chicken, turkey, and fish mostly. We eat a bit of pork; maybe twice a month; and we hardly ever eat beef for environmental reasons. We try to have a veggie dinner at least once a week tho it's difficult. I was raised in Texas, where meat makes the meal.

No, it's because it takes 70-80 calories of energy to produce a single calorie of beef. It's basically one of the most inefficient sources of protein to produce and should be eaten only occasionally, if ever.

I'm a vegetarian now... ate meat for a while, wasn't really fussed about it, then decided to go vegan...

Now I tend to eat cheese and a little fish, but thats about it...

I wouldn't really eat any meat anymore... except maybe bacon... mmm... bacon... *drooling sounds*

It can "get rid" of stuff as far as the meal is concerned, because the nutrients have moved into the water and are subsequently drained off. While the stuff isn't gone in the sense that it still exists somewhere, it is no longer part of the food consumed. For that reason, you should NEVER cook your food. Eat everything raw. Vegetables are easier, because they hold still better, but mice and snakes are generally pretty easy. Turtles are easy, too, as long as they are cold, so throw ice cubes or frogs at them. After all, have you ever held a warm frog?

A poor urchin kid in mexico, living off of day old, cheap, "unhealthy" foods is often more healthy then the gaunt gangly vegans or people who think for whatever moronic reason that eating raw food is better for you.

Human body is fairly resilient and can usually adapt to many conditions. When you try to strip out all the "bad" stuff from your life, your body becomes weak and intolerant. Thats why say people in other countries can tolerate their own water, but not the pampered tourists from countries with high quality water sanitation.

    agreed.
But just because i am a vegetarian dosen't mean that i eat everything healthy which many people assume.
I do have the (maybe more than!)occaisional pizza,vege-sausage,vege-burger or vege-bacon all of these quorn (except the pizza) but they still have fat content. And if theres one thing I am not and that's under-weight!

    Carnivorous as well.

I eat meat for one basic, fundamental reason: It tastes good.

I can as much about where it comes from as I care about the material from which my shoe laces are made.
