Hi Guys,

Well I came to this forum for all sorts of my VB 6 (VB Classic as called here). And I got much help here for my project. Excellent response time. Looks like I have hired myself a paid professional for FREE!!!

But when it comes to VB Looks.. Its not of much help. It did not make my project look modern and up-to-date. My college project had 200 marks dependent on it. And it was absolutely necessary to make the look more professional. I got many, many suggestions here in the forum like:

1) Make button of images
2) Use manifest file for XP look
3) Try thousands of platelets available
4) And many more…

Well, all those were fantastic responses but I did not have much time to experiment. I did a lot of goggling to resolve my problem. Suddenly I came across a small 5-6 pages website

After download swift install..

And presto.. the installation installs all the components samples in ur start menu.. The examples are so elaborate that I simply cannot explain it. You have to see it for yourself

When I opened VB6 and checked my components, the component OsenXPSuite 2007 Edition was showing on the top of the list..

I added that and my General Toolbar got filled by all kind of colorful buttons.. and then I started my experiment. I made a small form ( the form is also from XPsuite ) and added some basic controls. The left hand side are the basic controls of VB6 and the right hand side is the OsenXPSuite Controls:







Just see the vibrant colors of the form and the controls which look like XP buttons and forms. When u expand ur DTPicker / combo list .. it looks extremely professional

There are many many controls and other things which I did not try..

I thought lets try their Support.. Emailed Osen with a small query and BANG!! Within 2-3 hrs I got an excellent reply.. althought I was not a paid customer of theirs. Still I got a response. Very professional

Then I thought NO MORE SEARCH!!! THIS IS IT

Within 10 minutes I transformed my project looks .. I have attached pics of some basic looks I used







The student license if just for $50, worth it. The developer has put much work in this.. Various other License are also available



Conclusion: USE THIS if you are just a student or a professional using VB 6 in daily life and it will make your life worthwhile. I am recommending it to all my friends who are making project and to professional who can see such a great Component for VB6. That is why i was also compelled to write the review cause i wanted to share my experience with the ppl in this forum who have helped me a lot..

In that case I would recommend, first you learn how to write your own. When learning a language, you should try to 'clone' other applications. I learned programming that way.

Many VB programmers (including myself) don't like adding external controls unless it is extremely necessary (or I'm on a very tight schedule). External controls increases your program's dependency. Not good for your user.
Creating your own UserControl (embedded in the exe) is better.

Oh...and one more thing...most of those $20 shareware programs just rip code from sites like VBF/PSC without understanding anything. When it comes to debugging/support they sucks. Don't do that.
