    Arrow Ubuntu or Fedora ?

    1. Which one will be better for running Mono and J2EE/J2SE ?
    2. Which one is less resource hungry ?
    3. Which download option is better for Ubuntu ? 700MB CD image or 3.5GB DVD image ? (I've already downloaded 3.5GB Fedora DVD image. Didn't have time to install it.)
    4. What else I need to run Mono or J2EE/J2SE ?

    Here is my system configuration:
    • PIII 1GHz
      384MB SDRAM
      i815 Motherboard
100GB HDD (I can give 10GB-15GB to Linux)
      CD Writer
      DVD Writer
DSL Router (I have its Linux driver)

I've installed/used Linux. I don't care much about easy installation or cool GUI.

I want to know which one will be better as a Development Platform for learning C# and JSP.

    Thanks.

Ubuntu is more suited for a casual desktop user.Fedora or suse would be a better option.

    Re: Ubuntu or Fedora ?

    Thanks my little dude.

I installed Fedora. It was nice. Good speed on my crappy system.

But I can't get my DSL router working.
I don't have lan card. I connect my router through USB.
2.6 kernel has the driver built in, but only works if you have connected it through lan card.
I searched for ~5 hours but no solution.

I'm not planning to buy a lan card anytime soon.
    So, bye bye Linux.

before you ditch linux for good, i would suggest giving ubuntu a try.
if you run into any problems, then head over to www.ubuntuforums.org or get on one of the irc channels/mailing lists.
ubuntu has all the packages for monodevelop/mono in the package repositories so it's incredibly easy to install. not sure about j2ee (but java is going GPL soon anyway).
