A guy in need of some help! - Link Search

    Hello,

I want to ask of you if you can help me with something,
Here is teh outline of what I need to do...

An app that can scan a webpage for url's (Grab page data then seperate url's into a file or array)
So I want it to list like,
    -
    http://google.com
    http://yahoo.com
    -
    That is it

This is going to help me help my members on my site, of AwardSpace into helping them track down forbidden URL's

    Best Regards
    -x2Fusion

Dude! Why 6.0? You an specialize activeX do it. But if you want to it in the hard way then you must have a deep knowledge of string manipulation And make your own function..

X2fusion, people are not going to help you with this project.
    1. its a waste of time since there are better programs to write this in.
    2. some (like me) won't help you with it because i don't care to have another kiddie out there using another snake to grab email address's to spam and possibly make money from it.
    3. third reason i can see is that its a very time consuming project, but with the correct parsing can be done.
    4. people didnt even click the link due to your Title topic.

possible alternative..try breaking your question down into simple ones, such as asking how would you parse text, and how to grab source from a webpage. those questions will be answered and looked over by alot more people. and you can use them all to complete your project.

and btw posting replies in posts such as http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=454899
isn't going to help you any on getting people to help you in the future.

You will keep a civil tongue when dealing with other forums members.

Look around the forums. However questions do you see going unanswered? Darn few I'll wager and that is because others knows how to help the person asking the question. If someone knew that answer, it would have been posted a while ago.

I certainly don't know, and, moreover, have no idea why you even want to do something like this using a desktop language. There are more suitable web based platforms for something like this.

Even though I can appreciate your frustration, do not take it out on other members.

    Hello,

Well I will say sorry, thats only to Hack & AIS4U tho,

Also I would like to add @ All, One can't code in a language that one does not know, VB is all Ive been learning, also I wanted to do this so I did't have to waste my time on somebody, when or if I actualy get this done will help me in less time than it would have looking by sight...

As for Billy Conner, I don't like your attitude, so you think I'm going to use this for grabbing emails right ?
Well if you think thats teh case that must make you think I'm not even apart of AwardSpace right ?
Well if you want proof then just look at my profile you will see I am, also you will see that I'm there number 1 poster,
+ you can also look at my status under my name,

    http://forum.awardspace.com/profile....profile&u=2641

How you can call somebody a stupid kiddy is very rude, very rude indeed,
Also to anwer #1 How in teh world can one code something in another language, if one has absolutly non of it at all, VB is what I have been learning... I was thinking there were nice people here, but teh way you have just said that to me puts me off teh fact, I only hope teh best for VBForums, that you never get teh job of being a forum moderator because that can only mean teh worst.

    Thank you for your time,

i never said stupid. but i dont know you personally, and i dont know your intentions, so you'll just have to excuse me for saying what i did. anyways, im not the one with the bad attitude as people can see from all the negative posts you've made and the now edited language.

    Hello,

Well I will say ok, to your first part, now for teh other part about teh edited words on my posts...

Theres only 2 of them 1 of them I actualy said like this I will use a normal kind word to show you, "He**o" & teh word I said was a 3 letter one, so thats not really classed as cussing, even tho I intended it, thats just like you intended stupid kiddy

Also my other one was "FAGG0T" << I have no clue how you can call that cussing, as there is a food named that, Well at least in the UK

    Thank you,

dude, i never called you stupid. please reread what i said. and as far as kiddie goes, i refer it as someone that just wants someone else to do the work for them. thats all i meant. like i said i don't know you, but people with those questions that ask for something large usually are that way.
and i really don't care about your language myself, i just brought it up because you said i had a bad attitude. which i figured you could examine your own posts and think about what your saying. plz i don't wanna argue with you, i could call a bill collector if i was that bored. i just wanted to tell you why people won't answer this post. and besides if i just wanted to tell you off i wouldnt have gave you some advice to get it answered indirectly.

Hello, I know x2fusion very well. He is an honerable man with the best intentions at heart.

He is mostly a web designer so cut him some slack on not knowing a few things in VB.

I think that the people insulting him have no clue and want to make themselves look clever.

Grow up, you don't have to look big. Mastering VB is not an overnight thing, its varaity and extensive functions make it a hard langauge to master and even people coding high level applications in it do not know every in and out of it off by heart.

You know what you need to know to get the program you are making working well

All stay civil and don't try to look clever.

Re: A guy in need of some help! - Link Search

ok napster, welcome to the forums

as far as what you'r saying. i don't see anyone putting him down as a programmer. on this thread, i dont see anyone trying to make themselves look big nor clever. and as far as him getting friends to come speak on his behalf and telling me about his rewards he has online, it isn't really needed.
i myself am very good at VB, i somewhat know VC and Pascal (wish to learn more). and i can do some web designing. i can build pc's and i make many housecalls for absolutely nothing in my spare time to many people in my area to fix their pc's when they have problems. i have been doing these things and learning for over 17 years. the fact is, i don't go looking for rewards and i don't care if i am ever aknowledged as being good at pc's online. i like to help people, and when people say thank you. thats all i need to hear. so me trying to be "big" is not even close to my intentions on here. i didnt read his post until #8 was posted. and i ignored what he said. then when i viewed other posts to help people, i see him putting down the forums and the people within it. that is when i replied, and only because of what he was doing.

We have a section on this forum called Chit Chat.

Next time, please avail yourself of that section.

For now, if you have no response for the question topic, don't post it.

Re: A guy in need of some help! - Link Search

The forums is all about contributors sacrificing time and effort to help others to the best of their knowledge, and the ones asking for help to be informative of their needs, wait patiently for a reply, and make allowances for the replies (don't expect the first reply to always be the best/ideal/only answer)...

the forum isn't a 24/7 helpdesk where members who contribute are obligated to answer and be martyrs even when offensive language, insults, or attitude is directed at them...

if you don't know how to ask properly then I suggest you skip making threads and try doing a search here at the site instead. And don't resort to hijacking other people's thread for you to stage your drama.

Having someone back you up "credibility"-wise really has no bearing on the question and its answer, and is not a valid excuse for your so called frustration... that is if someone really backed you up and this isn't an account you made yourself just now. All this chit chat, which started because of your choice of words, is just counter-productive... if someone who was willing to help happened to drop by, I wouldn't be surprised if he changed his mind at the last minute... leaving you the losing party since your question is still left hanging.

As to your question... simplest involves webbrowser control and DOM, or similar variations... more complex involves creating plugins for your browser.

To direct you closer to your goal, have a look at this thread. Post 1 deals with setting up a webbrowser, the first bit of post 2 gets all the links on a page.

That should be enough to get you going.

You realy think I told somebody or actualy created an account just to back me up? Well if thats teh case then I see how lame you really are, if you think somebody would even think to do that, Well if you do then I would back away from me,

    Thank you again, zaza

If anybody ever needs help I can tell them never to trust y'all now, well zaza & Hack & teh others that were kind enogh,...

True, I misread feb 7 as 27 cause im not wearing my glasses, still you can't deny that he came to rescue the "so called honorable" damsel in distress.

Couldn't care less what you tell others... in the end its the solution that matters and not your oh so important recommendation.

This is just another thread, another post, another member.

I think you have dug yourself in and are trying to scrambel out without looking idiotic.

x2, has his answer the thread is resolved. He has decieced that he dislikes this site and has left let it be the end of the matter!

moot point, I already admitted my mistake. At least I know how to admit my mistake.

so your staff huh? then you of all people should be aware of netiquette and know better than to involve yourself in arguments such as this as a sign of professionalism.

I think you have dug yourself in and are trying to scrambel out without looking idiotic.
Idiotic based on what? the moot point? At least I don't need other people to back me up just to prove my point.

x2, has his answer the thread is resolved. He has decieced that he dislikes this site and has left let it be the end of the matter!
Now that's just sour graping, not fitting for an honorable man. Feel free to use the search feature of the site like what zaza did to find relevant info, such as how to progmatically click url links, rather than relying on replies which takes time and requires a certain degree of restraint on choice of words.
