What is the worlds biggest .NET open source project?
is it NASAs World Wind project?

mono isn't written in .NET though, C more likely.

Mono is written in C#. It is a self-hosting compiler, meaning Version 1 can compile Version 2 and so on.
Mono is a very large project, most of the major open source .net stuff will be on Linux / Unix platforms, simply because thats where opens source is most prevalent anyway.
I don't live here any more.
