Re: Friends letting you down
Get this. He said he bought an MP3 player but didn't realise you needed a PC/Mac to upload the MP3's so has bought a laptop also.....a laptop at almost £1k.

He could still just pay a deposit on the holiday then pay the rest in installements! Having said that it sounds like he isn't really commited to going anyway.

Re: Friends letting you down
Nope, he used the money he'd saved for the holiday.
The thing is, the thought of a proper lads holiday in the summer has kept me going through a boring job and now he's totally destroyed it. He's got a lot of grovelling to do for me to forgive him for this one.....I am getting a wiff off female about this situation though. He's just started dating someone and I have a feeling she didn't like the idea of three blokes let loose on Tenerife in the summer.
Still as yet unconfirmed though

Re: Friends letting you down
A few years back my mate was getting married and we'd planned a stag weekend to Amsterdam. I got my passport renewed and got all excited. About 2 weeks before we were due to go people starting pulling out so that idea got canned and we decided to go to a table dancing club instead. Then, on the night, some of the stags started making worried noises about their wives and in the end we went to Chicago Rock cafe instead.
From leggy, blond, half naked, Dutch girls to pasty, white, gold strapped handbag toting, Southampton girls in 2 easy steps. Talk about anti-climax.

Re: Friends letting you down
A perfect example of women spoiling a perfectly good weekend away
The annoying thing is that a weekend away to somewhere like Amsterdam can easily cost the same as two weeks in Tenerife!!!!
Ok spending money is obviously more for two weeks but I've already said to him I don't mind spending most of the holiday doing nothing, at least I'll BE ON HOLIDAY

Valley, going back your question, "...people let you down..."
Each person decides what is importance them at any point in time.
Mixed in with money burns holes in pockets, short term gain vs long term gain.
What do I want? Will this make me happy? Will this make me happy now?
As you both would have had a great time, and re-living the experience forever, he chose the short term fix.
Choosing some…thing over a person…well, you now know what kind of friend he is.
Find some else to go with, make it happen, have fun anyway..

Re: Friends letting you down
Whatever his decisions may be he is still a friend. If I just discarded friends just because they let me down sometimes or we disagree I would quickly have few friends.
The end of the day life goes on, and worst come to worst I can always go on my own and just spend two weeks chilling on the beach

Re: Friends letting you down
LOL The MCP doesn't mean too much, only that you can revise for an exam
Besides, the holiday costs around £300 but spending money is at least equal to that and I can barely afford to pay for myself what with house/car/bills etc..
