[RESOLVED] What is the next number in this sequence?
52, 28, 33, 63, 73, 23, 56,...
And (of course) WHY?

Ham Sandwich
Ask Mama Cass.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

Re: What is the next number in this sequence?
Those are the ages of the last seven women I've dated. The next number is 18.
My usual boring signature: Nothing

If you don't know the pattern, then how do you know there really IS a pattern??

Re: What is the next number in this sequence?
Well, because the originator of the question states:
The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a Chia Paint By Number. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool.
You just don't joke about something like that!!

Re: What is the next number in this sequence?
I have the answer. This really sucks.
The answer = 89.
You have to look at the letters in the question and replace them with numbers (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.) and add up the words. So the question was "What is the next number in this sequence?"...
W+H+A+T = 23 + 8 + 1 + 20 = 52
I+S = 9 + 19 = 28
and so on... so the final number is:
S+E+Q+U+E+N+C+E = 19 + 5 + 17 + 21 + 5 + 14 + 3 + 5 = 89
sheesh!
I'm just glad I posted the question with it. I would have never figured this out. Maybe I should write a program to do it as penance.
Sorry everyone.

That's not a pattern, it's a code. A pattern is a mathematical relationship. That doesn't qualify.

Yeah, WAY too simple.
In defense of the puzzle (and I reiterate that it is NOT mine!): Who said it was a mathematical puzzle? Sure, I assumed it was, just like you did.
But you know what they say about Ass-u-me.

You said sequence. A sequence is
