Can you make money from a software in another way than just selling it?
I have developed a training diary for motocross racers. I sell the software on my website.
Do you have any idea of how i can make money from this software in another way than just selling it?
Can i make money from my demo in some way?

From the demo? I don't think so... you invest by giving away demos (or betas if you will) with hopes to gain customers. You can advertise your app on sites like Downloads.com and such but I think they charge now (I might be wrong about this).

Service or annual maintenance contracts are a good source of reoccuring revenue from software that is either purchased or free. Tie them into you software with some kind of service or connection and provide updates only to those on contracts.

You could make it a website, with the usual annual subscription fee. And place ads on it as another source of revenue.

Download.com is free for a basic listing ...

In addition to hosting; instead of just placing advertisements... You could also join amazon's associate program:

I beleive (I can't remember the name of the tool they offer) they have a content parser built into their advertisements. That way, it will only show items in the ads based on the content of the page its on. Better for you (better chance for relevent referrals) and better for them (more clicks).

Just use Google AdSense as it targets the ads you display to your target audience.
Move clicks = more $

I don´t think i want to use adsense, it may decrease my sells. What do you think? I don´t want the visitors to leave my site...i have heard people on other forums that they got increased sales when they removed adsense from their site.

Re: Can you make money from a software in another way than just selling it?
One thing that is VERY noticeable is that when you click an adsense you get transferred in the SAME window. I don't know if that is part of the agreement or so but if you are selling anything you most certainly don't want your customers away from your product. The point is to concentrate clicks on you not to disperse them away from you. I often click catchy banners but only if I know from past experience that they open in a new window (like the ads on this site). This spares me the ~5x or more back navigating esp. if the other site uses some back clicking 'defence' mechanism on leave-the-site attempts. Referrals can be profitable when you offer nothing valuable (such as mindless blogging) but otherwise you'll be making more if you are selling your own stuff instead of others'.
Adsense can still be used after the purchase confirmation page I guess
