Any suggestions?
Seriously guys..
Okay so I am a senior this year in High School -- that starts the story.
Today in study hall I was playing gameboy, being quiet. If I dont have it or my calculator I cant sit still and just cause trouble. So I am playing and a teacher walks over and takes it away. I go "Why? Its exactly like playing games on my calculator.", he goes "It's an electronic device" and walks away, he took it to my dean.
So after school I wait in the deans office to get my gameboy back, and no one is in there. I know where they keep stuff they take from kids, so I open the drawer, and low and behold- my gameboy with my name spelled wrong attached to it. I leave it.
I finally talk to a deans aid or whatever she does, she tells me that I am getting 2+ detentions for the gameboy and they need a meeting with my mom. Mind you I am a SENIOR in highschool, caught playing gameboy in STUDYHALL!!
Tommorrow I'm thinking of just grabbing it out of the drawer, and coming back later in the day and pretending I dont have it. Then they cant give me detentions and I will be reimbursed--I hope.
Is this ludacris? Am I crazy???

I think once it's noted how stupid the whole situation is the detentions will hopefully be dropped.
As for taking the gameboy back, it's your call.

Where is the Publicly Displayed School Policy?
What does it say?
If it even exists.
if not, if there are no rules that govern this situation. Lets finally draw the line.
Demand Recompense or Charge them with a crime.
LETS GET BUSY!!!!

1. Go again in that room and replace the mispelled nametag with the teacher's.
2. Slap yourself for playing in the study hall. (seriously, it was unthinkable in our days.)

I would say that you dont take the game boy, and sue the school district for Property Theft. And say that they spelled your name wrong, so they should wave the detentions.
I found out yesterday, that if someone is caught throwing a water bottle, they get suspended! Yeah, and i go to school in a wealthy area.

Re: Any suggestions?
If it's private school, we don't have family lawyers to fight our battles like you do with your waterbottle throwing scandals.
Just roll with it. you're leaving soon, what good would it do for you to fight about it now? Get your gameboy, bow down for a moment, save your letters of recommendation and just keep on keeping on.

This is exactly why you had your gameboy taken away. You ought to be studying spelling.

Your Calculator has games?
I had a similar situation as well, i was allowed to go home early if i had a free period at the end of the day, but on this particular day i had to stay back for an extra class (we couldn't fit them all into the timetable). So instead of going home i decided to stay in the yard and play on my phone. One of the biggest ******* teachers came and took my phone, even though i technically wasn't meant to be at school. Teachers just like to feel like they are smarter than you, only cause once you leave, you'll be earning more than them and have a much better life . I think you should just go, do your detentions and forget about it. Its better this way cause when you need a job, they'll be asking your school, and the last thing you need is for them to say something bad about you.

Burn the school down. I don't see any other option.

Re: Any suggestions?
You should get detention for being stupid enough to get caught!
Anyway, don't mention they misspelt your name as they'll know you've been in his drawers (Ooo-er!)

Take your gameboy, burn the teachers first, and then burn the school down.

Re: Any suggestions?
Well first off it was pretty hard for me to play and watch for teachers. Im in the biggest studyhall at school like 150+ kids or something, and the teachers walk around everyone in a while, and since they could come from any angle--I just saw to late.
Anyways went to the dean today, and talked to him. He said I deserved two detentions and a meeting with my mom (For a gameboy lol). So I asked him if he could read the rule to me. He read out something about all electronic devices deserve 2 hour detention or something. So I go "So what about watches etc? How can a rule be this general?", he responds "Well, you do have a point" and flips the page, on the next page it says "For any device that does not communicate, 1 hour detention each time". So he goes "Well you got me, take the gameboy and no detentions".
I kickass! Resolved!

Re: Any suggestions?
I used to write games for calculator... I had two parts to the fabled Crusader series in my school. Most of the math team kept bugging me to finish part 2, so the beta was so full of bugs it was rediculous.. but I miss that TI-83+ SE... so simple to code in, yet capable of making games that would take a couple weeks of constant study-hall playing to beat...

The dean sounds pretty cool.
Willing to let students convince him that the teachers are not always right.

Re: Any suggestions?
Teachers are often the most infantile people in a school.
I remember I went to boarding school and, once, our house master found an empty shandy bass can in the bin. For those who haven't come across shandy bass, it's basically a soft drink but it comes in a can that's deliberately designed to look like a normal beer can.
This house master obviously thought he'd found a beer can so he stood up in the end of day assembly and announced to the house, "I was disgusted to to find THIS in the bin", brandishing the can.
"But, Sir, it's just shandy", came the response.
You could see him get a bit less certain at this point but he was going to plough on regardless. "What, err, well, it's got beer in it and that's against the school rules"
"But, sir, they sell it in the tuck shop"
"Well we'l just see about that"
So this guy then tried to ban it from being sold in the tuck shop. Except he didn't quite manage to achieve that and instead he only managed to get them to stop selling it to our boarding house. Idiot!
