[serious] Is this a true representation?

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...60586718929761

It's supposedly about mormon beleifs. I was hoping someone could either confirm or deny the accuracy of this.

True, but exaggerated in a way one would exaggerate information about other religions they don't know much about: facts stated without contexts that may or may not be required for a full explanation.

    Far from real.

They haven't even cared to read the Bible or other epics before coming up with this fictitious story.

    Thanks.

Not to make this thread pure taboo, but I had to include this:

First 30 minutes are explanitory... Last 6 minutes is this intense lecturing...

I think he's referring to it as a true story of the origins of humanity as a whole, rather than commenting on Mormon beliefs.

That makes more sense. I don't personally beleive this, I am just curious as to wether this was an accurate portrayal of what mormon's beleive.

Re: [serious] Is this a true representation?

If you want a pretty good background, read Under the Banner of Heavan by Krakauer (or however you spell that). Much of what is in that is pretty much accurate to the doctrine of Mormons, but I don't know how well Mormons actually believe it or not. However, the video was clearly made by a non-Mormon. They can't keep from scoffing, despite a poor attempt to remain unbiased.

The Mormons I know (and there are LOTS of them out here), seem like any other fairly fundamentalist religious followers. I don't think they put nearly as much thought into what they actually believe as they do into how to convert non-believers.

Unless you're J4U, it doesn't matter to us what you believe.

Besides, I'm sure I can think of a dozen other reasons to hate you.

A few more beers and I'm sure we can make it a baker's.
