    Crystal Reports Printing Problem

This is a restatement of a prior problem:

I have a Vb6 application and am using Crystal Reports 8 designer within visual basic for report development.

For one specific report, when I attempt to print, the following page prints out:

    ERROR: undefined
    OFFENDING COMMAND: C
    STACK:

The next time I print the report it prints just fine. Anyone know why a report would print the above message on the first print attempt and print just fine on the second attempt?

I restated the problem as before I thought it was the fault of the printer but now I know it to be a Crystal Reports specific problem.

    thanks for any help.

    Re: Crystal Reports Printing Problem

In your previous post you said that the report prints OK from one PC but not the other. Is that still the case, or does the report cause errors on all PCs?

If the report fails to print correctly the first time on all PCs them I'm inclined to agree that it is being caused by some Crystal problem. In this case I would make sure I have the latest Crystal Service Pack installed (although you may have trouble getting updates for version 8). I'd then look to the actual report itself as the source of the problem. Printing complex graphics can sometimes cause PostScript to hiccup.

But if this error only occurs on one PC then I'd be looking for the cause of the problem elsewhere. The first thing I'd try (as I suggested in my previous response to your post) would be to make sure the latest printer driver was installed on the offending PC. What type of printer are you using? Have you tried printing to a different printer? Have you tried using a non-postscript printer driver?
