voice effect
Hey, does anyone know what that voice effect is that you hear from like old radios and stuff. Like you would hear on maybe a radio station from world war 2 or somthing of that sort. (if you know what i mean)
If you do know what it's called, let me know. and also if you know of any free programs to make my audio files that way, i'd appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: voice effect
Two basic effects you could probably get to work are a mix of "Fuzz" and "Flanger". Fuzz will mimic the effects of primitive speakers and a flanger will give it an echo/white noise sound. That is, if by old you mean the sound of the old 250 pound cabinet radios. If not, I'm sure there are some pre canned "transistor radio" overlay effects out there. What are you using to mix it?
If you are not mixing it and just want to make your whatever sound like an old radio, just play around with your high pass frequency filter settings and get it to only allow the frequency range allowed by older transistors. Then play with the reverb settings to get the echo sound.

I always thought it was because they smoke a lot, that changes your voice to that '40s and '50s announcer's style. They'd even smoke during broadcasts.

Cup your hands over your mouth and plug your nose with cotton balls. You have achieved the desired affect. You are welcome in advance.
