can't access local computer when network cable is unplugged

hi all.. I'm having this problem: I can't access shared folders on my own computer when the network cable is unplugged.
    Here are the conditions:
    1. I'm using winXP Pro SP2
    2. I'm sharing a folder on D:\Data with the name Data
    3. My computer's name is SERVER
    4. When I'm connected to a network, I can access the shared folder using \\server\data

Now, when I'm not connected to a network (the cable is unplugged), I can't access \\server\data. It says that the network path is not found.

What should I do so I can access the shared folder on my local computer using \\server\data when I'm not connected to any network?

Thats because when designating the computername on a share even if its on the local machine itstill goes out to the network and back in. So if your cable is unplugged then you cant access the share. Try just using the share name of actual folder path.

I got it! I use the Microsoft Loopback Adapter and now it works!
